Greenhouse expansion to utilize electricity, heat, and carbon dioxide from nearby natural gas power plant

Horseshoe Power and Doef’s Greenhouses are collaborating on a tri-generation (electricity, heat, carbon dioxide) project to turn waste heat and CO2 from natural gas production into a valuable local resource for the greenhouse. Through the project, Doef’s will be using waste heat from Horseshoe power to heat a 13-acre greenhouse and using CO2 to feed their crops–peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, lettuce, and more. ERA committed $2 million to the $5.1 million project.

We are investing in a diverse portfolio of technologies that will reduce GHG emissions, and we’re helping innovators address barriers to commercialization.
