There are many factors that shape people’s understanding of climate and carbon issues. Chad Park is Lead Animator of Energy Futures Lab (EFL) and Chief Innovation Officer with The Natural Step. Through this work, he convenes different groups from different backgrounds in dialogue to help find common ground in this complex, fragmented, and polarized debate. Learn how testing facilities can help advance carbon positive technologies

Interest in carbon capture, utilization and storage technologies (CCUS) is growing around the world, and Alberta is positioning itself as a leader in this space. The Alberta Carbon Conversion Technology Centre (ACCTC), currently housing the finalists from the NRG COSIA Carbon XPPRIZE competition, is one example. The test facility is helping speed up the development of CCUS technologies and push them towards commercialization.

Writer, thought-leader, business strategist, and serial entrepreneur John Elkington says it’s time to reimagine carbon. And, we couldn’t agree more. To align with our theme for Spark 2019: Carbon Positive, we have secured the founder of Volans, a certified B Corporation driving market-based solutions to the future’s greatest challenges, as keynote speaker. Through Volans, Elkington is part of the Carbon Productivity consortium, an association with a vision of generating 10 times more value from fossil fuel carbon. Elkington will be SPARK 2019’s opening keynote speaker on Tuesday, October 29.
