Etalim Inc. has dedicated 17 years to developing a unique thermoacoustic generator set (genset), 1GEN, that at volume will be the most-cost effective wellsite electrification solution. It has no sliding or rotating parts, making it ultra-reliable and maintenance-free. The technology burns field gas in an external combustion system, making it insensitive to fuel impurities. It is optimally sized and has ideal characteristics for powering gas wells. This Canadian-designed and built genset is ready for manufacturing scale-up and is undergoing field testing at TRL8. Natural gas producers in Western Canada have expressed strong interest in deploying this technology to electrify gas wells to eliminate methane venting. The goal of this project is to establish pilot production, deploy 15 units in the field toward TRL9, and secure initial unit sales. As emphasized at COP28, venting of methane at wellheads is a major source of greenhouse gas. Eliminating methane emissions with wellsite electrification will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by Canada’s oil and gas sector. Etalim’s genset is ideal for deployment at remote wellheads, providing the lowest cost of ownership and reliable on-site electricity in the Canadian climate. Etalim, with partners Spartan Controls and several producers, to form a highly capable team primed to complete the project successfully. Financial assistance from the ERA is vital to enable the successful execution of our proposed project.
