Using funding from ERA, ATCO Gas will help offset the cost of incorporating Combined Heat and Power (CHP) technology in Commercial and Institutional buildings. CHP is an energy efficient technology that will use clean burning natural gas to provide electricity and heat. This will reduce GHG emissions and overall energy costs for customers.  This energy efficiency project aims to raise awareness of the benefits of CHP and how it can be best utilized in facilities with high space and/or hot water loads all year round, such as office buildings, recreation centres, greenhouses, senior centres and large apartment buildings.

ATCO Gas will install, own and maintain CHP units up to 500 kW in size for a total installed capacity of 1,445 kW.
